SOLAR APPLE ORCHARD An experimental apple orchard at Cornell’s Hudson Valley Research Laboratory in upstate Highland, NY may soon be topped by solar panels. The research lab proposes to install a 300-kilowatt solar arrangement next spring to cover about 1,100 apple trees. These would not only track the sun to capture energy but also shade the apple trees from being destroyed by extreme weather, including excessive heat. Learn more here.
