Does an electric vehicle (EV) make sense for you? To find out, join us for EV 101 on Thursday, March 5 at 7PM at Built Well Solar’s office at 38 Bayville Avenue in Bayville. What about sun-powered driving? Hear how your solar energy system can be your new “gas station” and power your EV! No pre-registration is required — just come by!
This special EV 101 presentation is offered by the Drive Electric Long Island coalition, an independent advocacy group dedicated to encouraging and accelerating the adoption and use of electric vehicles (EVs) and EV charging infrastructure on Long Island.
EV Basics and More!
The presentation will cover:
- the history of electric vehicles (EVs),
- cost savings,
- environmental considerations,
- EV charging basics,
- common myths and misperceptions, and
- resources available to continue learning.
EV + PV = Perfect Together
Hear how your solar-powered home can be your new “gas station” because your PV (photovoltaics) system can produce the electricity you use to charge your EV — in short, it’s sun-powered driving! This just makes plain common sense. In fact, a recent study found that people who own electric vehicles (EVs) are much more likely to add solar panels to their home and, conversely, people who own a home with solar panels (PV) are also more likely to buy an electric vehicle.
Meet EV Owners & See Their Cars
Connect with current EV owners to find out what it’s really like to own and drive one. Two electric cars will be available on site so you can take a look afterwards and ask questions about them in general. This is strictly educational. No specific EV sales information will be offered, and no specific manufacturers or models will be recommended.
Talk to the Experts
Representatives from Drive Electric Long Island — Rosemary Mascali, Chair, Education & Outreach Committee and Ralph Infantino, Education and Outreach Coordinator — will be speaking and answering questions.
Dan Sabia, President, Built Well Solar Corp. will be on hand to provide information about solar energy in general and how it can power your EV.
